What are he main types (like Ballet, modern jazz, that kind of thing) that are often tought in dance classes. and what are some that a 13 year old girl could do thats only done dance once in her life ( in first grade) could start. Im pretty flexible. Im 5’3", and about 100 pounds. I dont like hip hop or tap dance. Thanks so much.
If you are just going to start to dance, I would definitely start with ballet. It will give you all of the technique that you need to do other styles. You might be put in a class with younger kids, but since you’re older, you will learn quicker and will probably be moved up into a higher level pretty quickly. Jazz is also really good for beginners. It will help with your technique in a less strict way than ballet. It also helps to be flexible in jazz, which you already are, so you wouldn’t be behind in that. I would take modern or contemporary too just for fun. They don’t involve as much technique as ballet and jazz, but they can be more fun sometimes.
Hope this helped!!!
